ACES ARCHIVES COMMITTEE...Did you know...

In 2014, the Black History Planning Committee transitioned into the ACES Interest Group. The group did not transition into the Interest Group sooner because SCP Interest Groups were not initially allowed to sell tickets or raise money to donate to charities.

Bernadette Murphy was the first chairperson. The ACES Interest Group was open to all residents and had the mission to "Celebrate, Educate, and Give Back". Members volunteered throughout the Griffin community and donated to charities, including:

  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Uganda Thunder (Skipstone Academy)
  • Griffin High School Gospel Choir
  • The Caring House
  • Five Loaves and Two Fish Food Pantry
  • Spalding County Women's Center

In May 2016, the ACES Interest Group became the ACES Charter Club. Gail Kelly served as the first president. The club continues to be open to all SCP residents without restriction to nationality or ancestry. ACES promotes diversity be educating the SCP Community on African American culture and traditions. Our purpose is to recognize and celebrate African American cultural, educational, and social events.
